The rules
Plain English. The same rules apply to everyone — kids, coaches, parents, admins.
Be kind. Be fair. Be a good sport.
JBQ is a competition, but it's also a Christian community. We expect everyone to:
- Treat opponents the way you'd want to be treated.
- Not use mean, rude, or hurtful words.
- Not use a username that's rude, includes bad words, or pretends to be someone famous.
- Not try to cheat — that includes asking someone for an answer mid-match, looking it up, or using another person's account.
- Tell an adult (parent, coach, or report from inside the app) if something feels wrong.
If you're under 13
We need your parent or guardian's permission to let you play. That's a law called COPPA — it protects kids' privacy online.
- Your account stays paused until your parent clicks an email we send them.
- We don't collect your email or phone number.
- We don't show ads to you.
- Your parent can see what you do here and pause or close your account anytime.
What we keep about you
- Your username (so people know who you are).
- Your match scores and practice answers (so we can track your progress and pair you fairly).
- Your birth month and year (no day) — so we know if you need parent verification.
- For parents and coaches: your name, email, and login info.
We don't sell your data. Ever.
What happens if someone breaks the rules
If a player does something mean or unfair, anyone (including you!) can report them with the 🚩 button in a match. An adult on our team reads every report. Steps we might take:
- First time, minor: A reminder of the rules.
- Bigger or repeat: A short pause (you can't play matches for a few days).
- Serious or many warnings: Your account is closed.
If your account ever gets paused or closed, you'll be told why. If you think it was wrong, your parent or coach can contact us (pick "Appeal a ban" as the category) and we'll review what happened — there's a full history of every match, every buzz, every action.
The Junior Bible Quiz match rules
The actual game rules (how scoring works, how the buzzers work, what's allowed during a match) come from the official Assemblies of God JBQ guidelines. Read them at /how-to-play — we've broken them down kid-style.
